The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce has issued the following press release:

HiSTEP is an export development program supported by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), that helps Hawaiʻi companies expand sales outside of the United States. This program has three key components:

Export Readiness Program – training and consulting to help you begin or expand your export market development plans.

Hawai‘i Pavilions – support at major trade shows such as the Tokyo International Gift Show

Company Assistance – awards up to $5,000 for new-to-export companies and up to $15,000 for market expansion companies

This year, island-specific HiSTEP 2023 kick-off webinar sessions will be held. There is no cost, but pre-registration is required. Deadline to register is Monday, October 24.

Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and over two dozen of her colleagues have requested Amazon CEO Andy Jassy to provide information about the Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program, as well as several issues, including Amazon’s efforts to evade liability in relation to DSP mistreatment. The senators are also keen to understand why Amazon refuses to negotiate with DSP union representatives.
