Staff and volunteers at the Waiawa Correctional Facility transformed the facility’s pavilion into a family-friendly space with pastel banners and inflatable bunnies for Easter Keiki Day, according to a March 29 announcement. The event brought together nine incarcerated fathers with their children for an early Easter celebration.
The gathering allowed the fathers to reconnect with their families by hugging their children, participating in activities, and spending quality time together. Seventeen children attended, including two adult children and one grandchild, along with ten caregivers. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Human Services and Keiki O Ka ʻĀina Family Learning Centers.
