Angel Prince, the founder of Prince Dance Company, announced that the studio’s upcoming performance, ‘ON TIME,’ set to commence in May, will “explore our relationship with time.” This statement was made in a press release on May 7.
“‘We are creating this experience to explore our profound relationship with time,” Angel Prince said,” said Prince, Director. “The backbone of the story is a line of questioning around why we think of time the way we do, how different cultures relate with time, and the origins of time itself.”
According to the press release from Prince Dance Company, ‘ON TIME’ portrays the journey of various characters embodying different aspects of time. The script was penned by Angel Prince and Noelani Anderson. The choreography team comprises Amanda McCormick, Mandy Abernathy, Alex Schillmoeller, James Imai, Sage Nicolson, Shawna Gordon, and Angel Prince. Michelle Hartman is responsible for costumes while Kristin Guest will oversee lighting.
The press release also reveals that the show features over 100 performing arts students. “What really makes ‘ON TIME’ particularly special is the cast,” said Prince. “We have 100 upper level students from Prince Dance Institute that are ecstatic to be a part of a professional production on the stage of the Kahilu Theatre. Our shows reach far beyond our students’ families, appealing to everyone that enjoys live theatre, dance and music.”
According to the press release, the performance entitled ‘ON TIME,’ will take place at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea. There are two scheduled showtimes: Saturday, May 11 at 6pm and Sunday, May 12 at 4pm. Tickets for this event are available for all ages.
Prince Dance Company (PDC) seeks to address environmental and social issues through its dance performances as per the press release. PDC promotes youth involvement in performing arts by raising funds for scholarships and producing shows for a Waimea-based performing arts school. This initiative aids young artists in accessing opportunities regardless of their background.
