New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County have increased 41% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 19, according to State of Hawaii Department of Health.

The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County, based on a seven-day average, stands at 9.6 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began is 12,067, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 2.7.

The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 66%. And total COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County now number 145. 

Over the past week, 485 average daily coronavirus tests were performed on the Big Island, the Department of Health said.
