New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were up 5.6% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching nine, according to data from the state’s Department of Health.
The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County based on a seven-day average stands at 5.1 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.
The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 42,786, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 6.7.
The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 70%. And total COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County now number 235.
Over the past week, the number of average daily coronavirus tests performed on the Big Island was 104, the Department of Health said.
