The Hawaii Department of Health announced on May 8 that it will conduct the 2026 Hawaii Teen Health and Media Survey over the next two months. The information collected will be used to develop and improve health programs and services for youth in Hawaii.

Some households across the state will soon receive a letter from the Department of Health with an invitation to participate in this survey. An adult in each selected household will be asked to answer a few online questions to determine if someone in their home is eligible for the full survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete. Each mailed letter contains a unique survey link that can only be used once.

All responses are confidential, with no personal identifiers such as names or mailing addresses linked to individual answers. Survey results will help inform programs that support Hawaii’s youth, and the department encourages anyone who receives an invitation letter to consider participating.

The department said it administers surveys like this one “to better understand the health and health behaviors of Hawai‘i residents.” The current survey is being conducted on behalf of the department by Professional Data Analysts and Social Science Research Solutions (SSRS). Questions about the survey can be emailed or verified by phone as provided in official communications.

The Hawaii State Department of Health operates as a public health agency focused on delivering comprehensive services for health, environmental protection, disease prevention, and community wellness across the state, according to the official website. It contributes to community well-being through efforts such as promoting vaccination education, responding to disease outbreaks via its Disease Outbreak Control Division, safeguarding environmental conditions, coordinating disaster preparedness through its Office of Public Health Preparedness, and maintaining offices throughout multiple islands.
