The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch has authorized the reopening of U-Choice In, a food establishment located at 801 Kaheka St. in Honolulu. The decision comes after a follow-up inspection confirmed that previous water backup issues in the kitchen had been resolved.
U-Choice In, operated by Sino Mart Enterprise, Inc., was closed on February 26 after receiving a red placard due to the water problem. A DOH inspector returned on February 27 and observed that the issue had been addressed. The inspector also verified with staff that the entire floor had been cleaned and sanitized.
The establishment was advised to continue monitoring and maintaining proper drainage for all floor drains.
According to the department, “The DOH Food Safety Branch protects and promotes the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.”
