The Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has scheduled a public hearing to consider a proposed rate increase by Hawaii Water Service Company, Inc. for its Kapalua Water and Wastewater Divisions. The hearing will take place on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Maui Preparatory Academy in Lahaina. Both in-person and online participation are available.
According to Hawaii Water, operating expenses have risen since the last rate adjustment 16 years ago. The company also reports that it has made substantial capital improvements to its water and sewer systems.
Members of the public are invited to attend the hearing and provide input either in person or online through Webex. The event will be broadcast live on Akakū Community Media channel 53 in Maui County and ‘Ōlelo Community Media channel 54 on Oʻahu. A livestream will also be available on the commission’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@hpuc.
