Himalayan Kitchen LLC in Kaimukī has been allowed to reopen following a follow-up inspection by the Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch. The restaurant, located at 1137 11th Ave., Suite 205, was previously closed on December 9, 2025, after receiving a red placard due to critical food safety violations.

A subsequent inspection took place on December 12, 2025. According to the DOH, “all critical food safety violations were corrected,” and a green placard was issued permitting the restaurant to resume operations.

The Food Safety Branch is responsible for protecting public health through education and regulation of food establishments across the state. The branch regularly inspects facilities where food is prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold. It also investigates sources of foodborne illnesses and potential contamination incidents to help prevent future occurrences.

According to the DOH, “The DOH FSB protects and promotes the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.”

The department emphasizes collaboration with business owners and workers in the industry to maintain safe practices and sanitary conditions in Hawaii’s restaurants.
