The Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) Public Works Division will start renovations at the Kāneʻohe Civic Center, located at 45-270 Waikalua Road, in early March. The building, which covers 15,000 square feet, is home to programs for the State Department of Human Services.

Ke Nui Construction has been selected as the contractor for this project. Planned improvements include upgrades to both the interior and exterior of the facility, as well as significant modifications to the parking lot.

Keith Regan, DAGS Director and Comptroller, said: “The Kāneʻohe Civic Center is a small but important facility for Windward residents because it houses the offices for important social services.”

Gordon Wood, Administrator of DAGS Public Works Division, added: “We are eager to refurbish the property and reopen it to the constituents who need it.”

This renovation aligns with broader state efforts to support community needs. The Hawaii State Executive – Governor works on issues such as expanding healthcare access and addressing homelessness through housing initiatives. These measures also extend support to communities recovering from natural disasters like wildfires. More information about these initiatives can be found on the official website.

In addition to social service programs and recovery efforts, state leadership focuses on policy areas including tax reform for affordability and renewable energy advancement. The Governor’s office emphasizes collaboration across Hawaii’s regions to address pressing challenges related to housing, climate change, and public health (official website).
