The Kaua‘i District Health Office announced on Mar. 27 that it will hold an open house in Līhuʻe to celebrate National Public Health Week 2026. The event is scheduled for Friday, April 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KDHO office on Umi Street and is free and open to all community members.
National Public Health Week will take place from April 6-12 with the theme “Ready. Set. Action!” This theme highlights the importance of making positive changes at home, in communities, and across Hawaiʻi.
Kaua‘i District Health Officer Dr. Janet Berreman said, “National Public Health Week lets us share with the public the many programs and services that DOH offers to enhance the well-being of our communities.” She added, “When we understand and support public health, all of us — from keiki to kūpuna — can work together to create opportunities to be healthy and thrive.”
The event will include activities for all ages as well as opportunities for residents and students interested in careers in public health to meet Department of Health staff members such as administrators, nurses, educators, food safety inspectors, mental health professionals, case managers, microbiologists and others.
“This is a great opportunity for residents and community partners to learn more about DOH’s public health programs while networking and enjoying interactive activities,” Berreman said. “KDHO staff look forward to welcoming everyone at this event and saying ‘Mahalo!’ to our community and partners for their ongoing support to build a healthier Kaua‘i.”
