A ceremony will be held on February 19 at the Maunalua Bay Boat Ramp in Honolulu to mark the completion of dredging and shoreline improvements at Oʻahu’s Maunalua Bay Ramp Facility. The project included maintenance dredging of the entrance channel and boat ramp, repairs to the seawall, and installation of concrete structures designed to prevent erosion. Sand from the dredging was used for beach replenishment, expanding both parking lot and canoe storage areas as well as adding sand to nearby shorelines.
The planning and construction involved collaboration between state agencies and local community members. American Marine Corp completed the work two months ahead of its original April deadline.
Staff from the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation expressed appreciation for support received during all phases of the project. “DOBOR staff thank Governor Josh Green, the Hawaiʻi State Legislature and community stakeholders who provided input and support, from the pre-construction meetings last July to the project’s successful completion.”
Governor Josh Green’s administration has focused on supporting communities affected by wildfires, improving healthcare access, addressing homelessness through housing initiatives, advancing renewable energy efforts, combating climate change, and honoring veterans. These priorities are part of broader policies aimed at public welfare, including tax reforms for affordability and recovery programs after natural disasters such as those affecting Lahaina. More information about these initiatives is available on the official website.
The Governor’s office works with various organizations across Hawaii’s regions to promote safe housing options, improve healthcare access for residents, advance renewable energy solutions, and encourage statewide collaboration on key issues like climate change and social recovery.
