Kona Village, a Rosewood Resort, announced on March 16 that Los Angeles’ Sweet Laurel Bakery will hold a limited-time residency at Kahuwai Market through April 15, 2026.
Founders Laurel Gallucci and Claire Thomas collaborated with the resort’s culinary team to create exclusive baked goods that align with Sweet Laurel’s grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free desserts as well as Kona Village’s focus on local Hawaiian ingredients and flavors. The offerings will be available daily from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm at the open-air Kahuwai Market.
According to the announcement, “these collaborative desserts and breakfast items are inspired by Kona Village’s barefoot luxury and Sweet Laurel’s commitment to indulgent, healthful food with a body positive perspective. Gluten-free and paleo yet still rich and satisfying, these new baked goods present a wholesome alternative to the traditional breakfast pastry or dessert.”
Gallucci and Thomas traveled to Kona Village to work alongside Pastry Chef Michael Brock in developing two signature baked goods reflecting Sweet Laurel’s style with Hawaiian influences. The menu includes Vegan Chocolate Chip Everything Cookies made with coconut flour, chocolate, and macadamia nuts; and gluten-free paleo Blueberry Muffins sweetened with pure maple syrup and topped with coconut and macadamia nut streusel.
The partnership aims to offer health-conscious travelers an alternative breakfast or dessert option while highlighting local produce from Kona Village’s onsite farm.
