Anna Kahakulani Cordero

July 26, 1935 - March 7, 2021

Anna “Sui Lan” Kahakulani Cordero, 85, of Hilo, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at the Life Care Center of Hilo.

She was born in Kalapana, Hawaii, on July 26, 1935; she was a Pastor and one of the founders of the Gospel of Alpha and Omega Church in Hawaii.  She was also a Vendor at the Hilo Farmers Market; Proprietor of Spike’s Kitchen in Keaukaha; a Tupperware manager for the Big Island; a dressmaker by trade and a seamstress/floor supervisor for Margolis Manufacturing and Retail Company, which is currently known as Hilo Hatties; ran a lunchwagon called the Chuckwagon in Kalapana & at Onekahakaha Beach Park; a waitress at Sun Sun Lau Chop Suey House and was also known as the “Lau Lau Lady.” 

Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. Burial at 12 noon at Alae Cemetery.

The family requests casual attire Wearing of face masks and social distancing will be observed She was preceded in death by her husband Santiago “Spike” Cordero. She is survived by daughter, Sanvelyn (Ronald) Matsuo of Hilo; sons, Anson Cordero and James (Haunani Medeiros) Cordero of Hilo; brothers, Peter Lee and Harry (Malisa) Lee of Hilo; sister, Gladys Lee of Hilo; sister in-law, Josephine (Nicolas) Galeon of Hilo; brother in-law, Alfredo Cordero of California; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces , grand-nephews and great-grand-nieces.
