FocusOn: Women in Business will discuss tribulations faced by women as well as how to successfully emerge from them during this unprecedented time.
The Zoom event will take place on Wednesday, May 19 where empowered women will be sharing their stories during the one-hour event, which starts at 9 a.m. HST.
“The coronavirus has presented a difficult challenge for women in the workforce,” the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii stated on their Events page. “Learn from our all-star panel of women – Jalene Kanani, president of NOHO Homes, Marie Kumabe, principal of Kumabe HR and Tanna Dang, owner of Eden in Love, as they share their advice, insights and challenges. We'll cover it all.”
Interested participants should register through the Events page. FocusOn: Women in Business is a complimentary event for the chamber members and Young Professional (YP) members but is also open to non-members for a minimal fee of $15.
As the pandemic unfolded, many organizations—nonprofit and businesses have struggled—the Chamber of Commerce being one of those affected, temporarily closed its brick-and-mortar office on March 16 last year, but their door remained open to businesses who needed them. They never ceased to help and connect different sizes of local businesses and more importantly, support their employees too. They also continue to provide assistance to young professionals between the ages of 21 to 39 to learn professional development. Virtually, they provide weekly tips and conversations with Hawaii’s business community in their Voice of Business podcast.
The Chamber aims to create a better business climate and a stronger and healthier economy in Hawaii. With its wide reach of over 2,000 member organizations and great advocacies enveloping its organization, it previously served as a state liaison to the military in 1985. They actively advocate statewide legislatures.
