The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce has recently released its strategic plan for 2021, which is outlined to be implemented through four strategic imperatives, according to documentation.
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, first started in 1968, consists of almost 500 business members that represent a wide variety of industries including aquaculture, banking, agriculture, financial services, real estate, education, government, health and wellness, construction, hospitality, technology and many more.
"Starting March 2020, the impacts from the coronavirus pandemic have changed the landscape of how we conduct business and a new course is necessary. Led by our board of directions and based on member input, we present an insightful strategy with adaptive tactics that serves our members while adhering to our vision, mission and values," the Strategic Plan 2021 said.
The four pentacles of the plan include business advocacy, communication, new opportunities and membership, the plan said. Each strategic imperative also outlines tactical implementations to make the plan work.
As part of business advocacy, the imperative focuses on "advocate for West Hawai'i business community by addressing key issues" like focusing "on COVID-19 economic recovery as well as advocating for the existing Chamber key priorities," "facilitate connections to the government officials," and engaging chamber committees and groups to welcome new members based on interest.
The communication imperative focuses on communicating "important information that affects our members and community," the plan said.
"Act as a communication hub by receiving and disseminating timely, relevant information using multiple delivery methods; increase online, digital and virtual methods to communicate; and design communication that are eye-catching, quick to comprehend and display nicely on social media platforms and devices," the strategic plan said the tactical implementation for communications are.
The Strategic Plan 2021 lists the new opportunities imperative as being "offer new, innovative opportunities to connect, educate and promote our members," and goes along with the last focus of the membership imperative.
The documentation from the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce said part of the implementation of the new focuses would be launching a campaign to educate members on the new 2021 plan.
