Kazue Murakami Tanimoto

Mrs. Kazue “Kay” Murakami Tanimoto, age 101, of Hilo, Hawaii, died March 17, 2020 at her residence in Hilo, Hawaii. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii on January 28, 1919 and retired from Hilo Printers, Ltd. as a Book Binder and was the only surviving member of their family business established in 1949. She was a member of the Taishoji Soto Mission in Hilo, Yamaguchi Kenjinkai and was a 4H leader. 

Visitation will be held at Taishoji Soto Mission (275 Kinoole Street) in Hilo on May 29, 2021 (Saturday) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Seating is limited. Social-distancing and face masks are required. Casual attire is requested. 

She is survived by daughters, Carol Ann (Susumu) Ikeda of Hilo, Gweyn Eckart of Hilo and Iris (James “Tiger”) Makin of Hilo; sisters, Haruye Hagiwara of Kaneohe; sisters-in-law, Mildred Murakami of Hilo, Marge Kanemitsu of Hilo and Myrtle Chiseko Nakasato of Kailua (Oahu); eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
