Mrs. Janet Sachiko Mukai, age 89, of Hilo, Hawaii, died April 27, 2021 in the Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born in Ookala, Hawaii on August 6, 1931 and was a homemaker. She was well-known for being the “Plant Lady”, selling her potted plants, within the former Food Fair Supermarket on Kinoole Street in Hilo.

She is survived by sons, Derrick S. (Iris) Mukai of Hilo and Dwayne T. (Lisa Kon-Mukai) Mukai of Hilo; daughter, Cathy Ann R. (Paul) Moon of Hilo; brothers, Gerald (Betty) Matsubara of Pearl City and Glenn Matsubara of Hilo; sister, JoAnn Matsubara of Hilo; son-in-law, Dale Silver of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
