"Summer is here, and the weather is perfect! Visitors are back and seems like everyone wants the be at the beach!"
Del Rosario also discussed Kona Surf Company's most popular tours.
"Most popular are private ohana lessons," said Del Rosario. "We call it a semi-private. Just your crew and a couple instructors, depending on [the] size of your ohana. There are tons of new surfers moving [to] and visiting Kona, it’s like an exodus to paradise."
In addition to his duties with Kona Surfing Company, Del Rosario is also the Hawaii Surfing Association Director for the Big Island.
"I spent four years, 2015-2018, as the director/president for the HSA Big Island," said Del Rosario.
"It was an awesome opportunity to give back to the local surfing community. We were able to implement live scoring and priority surfing. It was amazing to see the local kids grow and compete in a nearly pro-level environment! Hours, even days, spent planning and running surf contests and training programs for our community. In 2018, I took a gig taking the ultra-wealthy surfing around the world, so I handed it over to Lisa Dorian (legendary pro surfer Shane Dorian's wife). They are planning on events starting back up this Fall 2021! For updates, check them out on IG@ HSA Bigisland."
The Hawaii Surfing Association runs 11 amateur surfing competitions on Oahu each year. Their associate organizations produce five amateur surfing events every year on each of the following neighbor islands: Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.
