New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were down 14 percent over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 14, according to data from the state’s Department of Health.
The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County based on a seven-day average stands at 6.9 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.
The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 3,142, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 3.1.
Since the pandemic began, 129 COVID-19-positive Hawaii County patients have been hospitalized, with COVID-19 deaths numbering 54.
Over the past week, 467 coronavirus tests were performed on the Big Island, the Department of Health said. And the frequency of mask wearing in the county was estimated at 92 percent, according to the most recent data.
