The Kona Commons Shopping Center is holding a job fair on Sunday, July 25, and Monday, July 26.

Interested individuals can apply between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. by visiting Kona Commons at 74-5450 Makala Boulevard in Kailua-Kona.

“Interested in full-time or part time employment?” Kona Commons said on its website. “Come by and fill out an application. High school and college students are welcome. Many of the center’s merchants will participate, with tables set up outside of their storefronts and in front of Jeans Warehouse.”

Locals who are seeking employment can also apply through the Kona Commons jobs website. Participating Kona Commons businesses include: Bank of Hawaii, Bath & Body Works, Daiichi Ramen, Dairy Queen, Genki Sushi, McDonald's, Office Max, Old Navy, Petco, Ross, Subway, Ultimate Burger and Verizon.

“Kona Commons opened in fall 2008,” West Hawaii Today reported. “It comprises the 160,000-square-foot Target store, which opened in 2009, and the 130,000-square-foot first phase kitty-cornered and bound by Makala Boulevard and Queen Kaahumanu Highway.”

Kona Commons offers an array of shops and restaurants, as well as a monthly artisan market that specializes in local food and arts-and-crafts. It previously launched Aloha Service Program to help its tenants and employees.

“This program aims to improve customer service through connecting service to ‘living Aloha’ and traditional Hawaiian values,” Katie Kaanapu, marketing director for Kona Commons said, according to West Hawaii Today. “The program also provides job skills that can be utilized in any employment setting.”

Kona Commons’ tenants also include Panda Express, Cookies Clothing Co., Hawaiian Island Creations, Jeans Warehouse, Target, The Vitamin Shoppe, AT&T, Supercuts, Spectrum and T-Mobile. Island Naturals and Majestic Nails will soon be part of the commercial center.

The artisan market in the shopping center's parking lot resumed in September. There are approximately 50 to 60 vendors every second Saturday, and the event draws up to 1,500 customers. Masks are required and vendors are spaced at a distance of a car stall and a half apart, according to MacNaughton.
