Aloha Mobile Eats hosts a weekly Food Truck Friday at HPM Building Supply, located at 74-5511 Luhia Street in Kailua-Kona.
Onolicious foods can be purchased from various vendors during Food Truck Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event happens weekly right across from Target and Kona Commons.
“Food Truck Friday is your one-stop spot to feed the entire family,” according to Big Island Pulse. “Barbecue, Pizza, Thai food, Mexican food, local coffee, to-die-for desserts, seafood, local grinds. You name it, we have it.”
According to Big Island Pulse, art will soon be added to fun-filled Friday nights at HPM Kona.
“The first Friday of every month we invite local artists to come and show and sell the art,” Big Island Pulse said. “It is a fun night for everyone. We will be adding music to our event soon."
It’s not just all fun; community responsibility is also important to Aloha Mobile Eats. Last year, it partnered with Kona Newbies for a food drive to support the community. The food drive was able to raise $1,775 in cash donations and 226 pounds of food over Thanksgiving weekend, which was delivered to The Food Basket-Hawaii Island’s Food Bank, according to Big Island Now.
“I was able to rally volunteers from my Kona Newbies group on Facebook to fill two time slots on both Friday and Saturday,” Kona Newbies group founder Julie Ziemelis told Big Island Now. “The Ungermans (of Pizza Rovers) offered us space to put up a tent at Food Truck Friday and Saturday events to collect both monetary and food donations.”
Pizza Rovers is one of the 11 vendors at Food Truck Friday. Vendors serve anything from local food to gluten-free foods to delicious desserts. The Sweet Life Kona and Cheese Please are among the other vendors.
Food Truck Friday celebrates its first anniversary this month.
Aloha Mobile Eats has added another weekly event that happens every Wednesday at Tony Honda Kona and is looking for more vendors, musicians and performers.
