Big Island upcoming events: craft and gift fair, Tai Chi Chuan, Toastmasters Club, cooking demonstrations and prenatal classes

Check out this week’s events happening on the Big Island — handicrafts, cooking demos, Tai Chi and more!

Aloha Stadium Craft and Gift Fair is happening now through Sunday, Oct. 17, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. If you have missed their previous events, you still have time to visit the craft and gift fair. But if you’re excited to find great local handicrafts, plus special vintage collectibles and island fruits, plan your visit today. Multiple local crafters and vendors are ready to welcome you all day at the Aloha Stadium at 99-500 Salt Lake Boulevard in Aiea. Visit them in the upper Halawa parking lot (50th State Fair parking lot). Admission is only $1 and parking is free.

AARP HI: Introduction to Tai Chi Chuan for Early Birds is being held every Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. until Tues, Aug. 24. Chip Ellis will virtually teach you how to become more fit with an introductory session on Tai Chi Chuan. Through Zoom, he will be sharing his more than four decades of practice and experience on how to improve the body’s strength through Tai Chi’s slow and graceful movement. Hilo Toastmasters Club is happening every Tuesday between noon and 1 p.m. until Tuesday, Dec. 28. The Toastmasters Club is offering guests the opportunity for a free learning session on how to enhance public speaking skills. Toastmasters International is a nonprofit organization that fosters communication and leadership among its members through opportunities to practice both prepared and extemporaneous speaking, active listening, and offering and receiving supportive feedback. AARP Hawaii Fast Healthy and Ono Cooking – Japanese Favorites is every Thursday between 5 and 6 p.m. now through Thursday, Aug. 26. AARP Hawaii and Chef Daniel Swift from Windward Community College will be conducting an Air Fried Chicken Karaage online cooking demonstration Thursday, Aug. 19. Register at Fast, Healthy and Ono Cooking (cvent.com). On Thursday, Aug. 26, learn to make Okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancakes).

Healthy Hapai is being held every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. through Wednesday, Sept. 1. Healthy Hapai is a free five-week online class series discussing prenatal, postpartum and parenting classes. Interested expectant parents or families who were not able to enroll before the deadline of Aug. 11 may visit hmono.org/calendar to keep updated with upcoming events.
