Hawaii County COVID-19 cases averaged 132 per day over past week

New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were up 29% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 132, according to data from the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County based on a seven-day average stands at 45.3 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 6,916, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 8.6.

The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 59%. And the number of COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County now is 58. 

Over the past week, 1,499 coronavirus tests were performed on the Big Island, the Department of Health said. And the frequency of mask wearing in the county was estimated at 92%, according to the most recent data.
