Check out some of these events on the Big Island, which are recurring each week, some for a limited amount of time, according to the Big Island Event Calendar at Hub Hawaii.

On Sundays, surround yourself with fresh local produce, live music and a blissful atmosphere at The Farmers' Market at Hamakua Harvest, located at the intersection of Mamane Street and Highway 19 in Historic Honoka'a Town, every Sunday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The beautiful ocean views can be a nice backdrop to get together with family and friends, and leashed dogs are welcome. Hub Hawaii says, "Drink a coconut, buy a T-shirt and experience the warm hospitality of Hamakua."

You can also enjoy browsing and purchase handicrafts from local crafters at the Aloha Stadium Craft and Gift Fair at 99-500 Salt Lake Boulevard in Aiea, located in the upper Halawa parking lot. The fair opens at 9 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. daily. There are hundreds of vendors offering goods including clothing, jewelry and imported items from Korea and Japan. The fair is happening every day until Sunday, Oct. 17. Admission is just $1, and parking is free. For more information, visit the 808 Craft and Gift Fairs Facebook page.

On Mondays, sing your heart out at the Hilo Town Tavern Open Mic Night. It’s a free-admission open-mic night every Monday from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Hilo Town Tavern, located at 168 Keawe Street in Hilo. Hub Hawaii says, "Singers, rappers, poets, bands, comedians are all welcome. Happy hour prices all night long. PA and house guitar provided."
