Dolores Bernice Isabel Perreira Tavares, 93, of Hilo, HI, died at home on Saturday, September 11, 2021. She was born in Pahoa, HI and worked as a secretary at Pepe’ekeo School and retired from Kalaniana'ole School. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Young Ladies Institute (YLI), Portuguese Cultural Club, St. Joseph Catholic Church Aloha Choir, and the Pokeno Club.
Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, where a Wake Service will be held at 6:00 PM. Friends may also call at the Papaikou Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, where a Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, followed Graveside Committal Service at 11:00 AM at the Homelani Memorial Park. Limited seating, face masks and social distancing required. The family requests casual attire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Tavares, her son, Brian Tavares, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Tavares, brother, Jonathon Perreira and sister, Dorothy Perry, and is survived by her: Sons, Michael Tavares, Sr. of Hilo, HI, Robert (Verna) Tavares, Sr. of Captain Cook, HI and Earl Tavares of Kailua Kona, HI; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.
