On Tuesday, Oct. 12, the Disaster Recovery Division and County Council District 4 will host the second quarterly Revitalize Puna community activation event virtually, via Zoom, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Resilience Capacity Areas cochairs and Action Team members will discuss accomplishments, implementation strategies on the Kīlauea Recovery and Resilience Plan, and what has been learned in the past months.

“These events are focused on supporting community action and encouraging collaboration between residents and the County,” Douglas Le, the County’s Disaster Recovery Officer, told the Kilauea Eruption Recovery Newsletter. “We encourage anyone interested in implementing projects to build community resilience to join and find ways they can get involved.”

Anyone interested can join by registering on Hawaii County’s Kīlauea Eruption Recovery website or Revitalize Puna Meeting Registration.

The event, which is open to the public, will also have county administrators providing updates on recovery initiatives and priorities.

Over 100 residents attended the first Revitalize Puna event in June, which was held in Leilani Estates. Going forward, the quarterly events will be held on the second Tuesday of October, January, April and July, according to the newsletter.
