The Park West Fine Art Museum & Gallery has launched its "Made in Hawaii" Visual Artist Contest in search of the next extraordinary Hawaii-based artist. The winner will be awarded a one-year contract with Park West Gallery. Submissions for the contest will close on Monday, Oct. 11, at midnight HST. All interested parties (Hawaii residents 18 years old and above) are encouraged to review the complete contest rules, eligibility requirements and regulations here. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and announced in November.
The Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium of North and West Hawaii will be hosting the second annual Early Learning Virtual Conference on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Childhood service providers will have the opportunity to learn engaging and relevant tools to improve their practice. The first 100 participants to register will receive a free swag bag, including a copy of Pashyn Santos' book "My Mom and I."
Embrace healing for yourself and the people around you through the Reiki 1st Degree Certification workshop this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a two-day course where attendees can learn to access and connect to Universal Life Force Energy (Source). On Sundays, support the Big Island's local farmers and their produce at the weekly Farmers Market at Hāmākua Harvest, at 44-2600 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Located at the intersection of Mamane Street and Highway 19 in Historic Honoka’a Town, the weekly market offers ono food, live music, a fun ambiance and a social gathering place for the community.
