Sandra Wood Scarr

Sandra Wood Scarr, 85, of Holualoa, Hawaii, died October 8, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Washington, DC, Sandra was a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, Yale University, University of Minnesota, and University of Pennsylvania, and served as a board member and CEO of KinderCare before retiring to Hawaii in 1997.
During retirement, she was active in the Kona Outdoor Circle, Kona Coffee Council, Kona Coffee Farmers Association, and Kona Orchid Society, in addition to serving on the Hawaii County Water Board and the West Hawaii Governor’s Council. Sandra bred Labrador retrievers and standard poodles on her coffee farm in Holualoa.
Sandra is survived by three daughters and a son (Karen Scarr of San Francisco, CA, Rebecca Scarr of Whitefish Bay, WI, Stephanie Jackson of Cornelius, NC, and Phillip Scarr of Madison, WI).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
