Piglet, affectionately known as ''Piggy'', is a delightful, affectionate dog. Piggy was born blind but like most blind dogs, she keenly uses her other senses to navigate and map the world around her! As a blind dog, Piglet needs a patient, loving home that will provide her with joy, comfort, safety, and enrichment. Piglet absolute adores people and has quickly made friends with all of our staff, thanks to her gentle, sweet demeanor. At the shelter, her favorite thing in the entire world is napping on her cozy beds (yes, she has a few.) She enjoys belly rubs and conversations - she loves when we talk to her and call her name! We are not sure if Piglet enjoyed life as an indoor dog previously, but since she has been in our care, she has shown us that she is most definitely best suited to being an indoor pup! Blind dogs like Piglet thrive on routine to help them build confidence, so Piglet will need a family or individual committed to helping her grow and thrive through positive reinforcement training. Luckily for Piggy, her adoption includes a consultation with a dog trainer to help set you and her up for success and a lifetime of happiness together! For Piglet's safety and comfort, she will need a home with a secure fenced in yard, and preferably a single level home as she is still learning to navigate elevation changes and stairs may be stressful for her. Piglet seems most comfortable in the presence of people who adore her and would do best in a home as the only dog so that she can get all of the affection and attention that she so deserves. She is not reactive to other dogs, however, and we have not heard her bark once since being in our care! She also has a positive history of living around cats and may be able to share her future home with a cat, depending on the cat and given slow, safe introductions. Given time, patience, and understanding, Piglet is sure to be the mellow, gentle companion you have been waiting for. She is very easy to love!
