Mr. Charles Takashi “Taka” Ikeda, age 71, of Hilo, Hawaii, died October 1, 2021 at his residence in Hilo. He was born in Tokyo, Japan on May 5, 1950 and retired from the County of Hawaii as the Program Director of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.). He was a member of Hale Pule Ke’ola Hou, Under His Wings Ministry, Total Recs Golf Club and Piopio Bears Athletic Association.
Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on November 11, 2021 (Thursday) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Seating is limited. Face masks and social-distancing required. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Higashi Ikeda of Hilo; daughter, Marie (Devan) Inouye of Pearl City; son, Gavin (Cara) Ikeda of Hilo; step-sons, Michael (Terri) Inouye of Hilo and Travis (Lindsey) Sueno of Honolulu; brother, George (Mae) Ikeda of Pahoa; five grandchildren; father-in-law, Tatsuo “Baldy” Higashi of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Noren (Pam) Higashi of Hilo, Irvin (Donna) Higashi of Honolulu, Grant Higashi of Hilo and Derek (Elaine) Higashi of Kailua-Kona; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
