Eva Misao “Champ” Rowe, 82, of Hilo died Oct. 17 at her residence. Born in Keaukaha, she was a retired grounds and parks maintenance supervisor at the Hoolulu Park Complex, formerly employed at the former Sun Sun Lau Restaurant and Naniloa Hotel, co-founder of the Surferettes Volleyball Team, paddled canoe for both Kamehameha and Prince Kuhio Canoe Clubs, played softball for Leialoha’s Softball team under coach Ann Leialoha and played volleyball for the KCYO team.
Visitation 4:30-6 p.m. Friday (November 5, 2021) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; funeral at 6. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing required.
Survived by children, Raymond (Kim) Rowe, Jr. of Hilo, Kenneth (Roxie) Rowe of Hilo, Jarrod (Yvette) Rowe of Hilo, Evalynne Rowe of Hilo, Lance (Lei) Rowe of Hilo; siblings, Mabel Iopa of Hilo, Lawrence (Sue) Poai of Hilo, Sybil (James) Evans of Hilo, George Poai of Hilo, Dennis (Elena) Poai of Kona, Cathy (John) Simmons of Hilo; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews.
