Hawaii County's COVID-19 cases averaged 20 per day over past week

New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were down 36% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 20, according to the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County, based on a seven-day average, stands at 9.8 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 11,258, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 2.9.

The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 67%. And the number of COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County is now 117. 

Over the past week, 469 coronavirus tests were performed on the Big Island, the Department of Health said.
