Mr. Lance Kiyoshi Abe, age 67, of Hilo, Hawaii, died November 9, 2021 in the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii on December 12, 1953 and was retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services as an Eligibility Worker III. He was also a farmer and previously worked at Laupahoehoe School and coached girls’ basketball at the school. He was a member and Elder at Zion’s House of Praise Holiness Church in Hilo.
A public visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on December 13, 2021 (Monday) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Face masks and social-distancing required. Casual attire is requested. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings).
He is survived by wife, Amy Abe of Hilo; brothers, Randall (Linda) Abe of Kaneohe and Mervyn Abe of Oregon; sister, Joyce Yamamoto of Hilo; mother-in-law, Sueno Saruwatari of Pepeekeo; brother-in-law, Bert Saruwatari of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Glenn) Abe of Honolulu, Faye Saruwatari of Hilo, Gail Saruwatari of Pepeekeo and Eva Saruwatari of Pepeekeo; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces.
