Charles Jose "Carlos" Garcia

Mr. Charles Jose “Carlos” Garcia, age 91, of Hilo, Hawaii, died November 19, 2021 at his residence in Hilo. He was born in La Jara, Colorado on October 28, 1930 and retired from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) High Altitude Observatory as a Chief Observer. He was a United States Navy veteran and member of the Young Men’s Institute (YMI), Y’s Men International Club, Toastmasters and the Piihonua Kumiai. He was an avid Tennis player and active in family activities.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by daughters, Carla (Scott) Chitwood of Hilo and Pamela (John) Homa of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sons, Steven (Duan) Garcia of Hilo and Thomas Garcia of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Eva Mask of Parkton, North Carolina and Agnes Moser of Deadwood, South Dakota; brother, Julian (Debbie) Garcia of West Columbia, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
