Hawaii County COVID-19 cases averaged 195 per day over past week

New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County increased 832% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 195, according to data from State of Hawaii Department of Health.

The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County, based on a seven-day average, stands at 96.6 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 13,909, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 14.6.

The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 66%. And total COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County have now reached 151. 

Over the past week, 1,016 coronavirus average daily tests were performed on the Big Island, the Department of Health said.
