Three new judges appointed to Hawaii family courts

Three new judges have been appointed to Hawaii's family courts. | Shutterstock

Mark Recktenwald, chief justice of Hawaii's District Family Court, announced he has filled three judicial positions on the court.

Jill Hasegawa has been appointed to the District Family Court of the Third Circuit, replacing retired Judge Mahilani Hiatt. Joanna Sokolow also was appointed to the Third Circuit court, replacing Judge Wendy DeWeese, who was appointed to the circuit court bench. 

In addition, Gregory Meyers was appointed to the District Court of the Fifth Circuit, taking the place of retired Judge Edmund Acoba. 

Meyers is currently working for Meyers & Meyers, is a graduate of George Washington University and has been involved with community television. 

Hasegawa worked for Ashford & Wriston for 14 years, according to a news release. Sokolow works for Sokolow & Gibson and previously did work on children's law and was a public defender. She is a graduate of Georgetown Law School.
