Charles “Biggie” Robert Lindsey, III, 78, of Hilo, died July 31, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at home. Born December 30, 1943, in Honolulu, he was retired from the former Hawaiian Telephone Company, a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Waikiki Surf Club, Keaukaha Canoe Club, GTE Employees Association Canoe Club, Hanakahi Canoe Club and Elks Club. Visitation from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Graveside committal service to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2 pavilion. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Lavaina Lindsey of Hilo; children, Sui Lan (Tyra) Wong of Honolulu, Charles Lindsey, IV of Hilo, Charla (Russell) Crabbe of Waimea, Charlin “Hala” (Tom) DeCoito of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Mari Anthony of Hilo; sister, Kathleen Lilinoe Lindsey of Honolulu; brothers-in-law, Norman Kanakanui of Hilo, Norman Kaleo of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
