Raymond Kealohaokalani Lui, Jr.

Raymond “Joe” Kealohaokalani Lui, Jr., 82, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, died August 2, 2022 at Nakamaru Hale. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 7, 1940, he was a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and master mechanic for J.M. Tanaka Construction Company. He was co-owner of ANJ Painting Services, a commercial fisherman, Kupuna for Kahakai Elementary School, bus driver for Yamaguchi Transportation, a rubbish hauler, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a U.S. Army veteran. A memorial service will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. September 8, 2022 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kailua-Kona. Visitation will continue at the church at 8 a.m. September 9, 2022; funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. followed by burial at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family request casual attire. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Lui and daughters, Francine Lui and Nicole Lui, all of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughters, Caroline Damo, Francine Rieder, both of Kailua-Kona, Tamara (Bob) Verhault of St. George, UT., Alohilani Ririe of Utah, Jennifer (Kimo) Solmirin of Hawaii Kai, Oahu and Tanya Souza of Kailua-Kona; son, Aaron (Stacey) Shimabukuro-Lui of Honolulu; hanai son, Richard Blomfield of Honolulu; sister, Violet (David)Lui-Frank of Kailua, Oahu, brothers, Henry (Sharon) Lui, Isaac (Susan) Lui, Adam (Anna) Lui, all of Kailua, Oahu, Allan (Kehau) Lui of Molokai; one uncle; 2 grandchildren; numerous hanai grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
