The Unity of Kona Church’s inaugural Unity Cup Golf Tournament will be held at the scenic Kona Country Club in Keauhou, which is located just six miles from downtown Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. The 18-hole course, which offers gorgeous ocean views, is conveniently located near hotels and condos in the area for guests to stay.
The Unity Cup will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event tees off with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and two-person scramble format. Proceeds will support the Unity of Kona Church and its mission, which according to its website, is "to inspire spiritual growth and service through the active practice of love, prayer, faith, joy, and honoring everyone as a child of God.”
“The idea of a Unity Cup came about as a way to come back together after COVID, have fun together, and raise money so we can continue supporting the community,” said Candi Boewer, the tournament chairperson. “Unity is an all-inclusive, empowering spiritual center that respects all spiritual paths. We incorporate Hawaiian beliefs into all we do and seek to bring more cultural offerings.
“Apart from providing regular Sunday messages, we provide a monthly sound and energy healing and meditation gatherings for all to attend. Our doors are open as we strive to bring a lot more offerings to the community like Hawaiian-based workshops, meditation offerings, sound baths, service projects, and generally, offer more empowerment.”
In addition to the round of golf, the Unity Cup will include awards and a silent auction. Guests who don’t play golf are welcome to join in the fun by enjoying lunch, live music and the auction.
“We appreciate all the ways of support from volunteers to sponsors to people just choosing to attend the luncheon only,” said Boewer, who also praised Unity of Kona’s Rev. Sophia Falke for her support of the tournament. “We encourage people to join us in supporting the Kona community. We are striving to thrive and be of greater service. Kona is an ohana (family) that supports each other.”
The Unity of Kona’s core values are: aloha (God within), ohana (family), mana (empowerment), kuleana (service), and malu (peace).
