Patricia MacAskill, age 81, passed away on September 17, 2022 in Hilo, Hawaii after a long battle with Alzheimer' Disease. She was born in 1941 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Daniel S. MacLean and Floretta MacDonald MacLean. Patricia was married to Norman MacAskill on October 9, 1959. Shortly after marriage they moved to California and eventually settled in Belmont where they raised their three daughters until 1993. Norman and Patricia then moved to Pioneer, California where they built their dream house for retirement.
Patricia was a graduate of Baddeck Rural High School. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years and then worked at several companies including Pitman Learning, Evelyn Wood Speed Reading, and Sun Microsystems. In retirement, she spent her summers working at Bear River Lake Resort where she and Norman enjoyed summers living in their fifth wheel overlooking the lake. Patricia loved to bake and was an avid reader. She loved her family with all of her heart and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids who lovingly referred to her as “Grammie”. Patricia’s beautiful soul and kind spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by all of those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman MacAskill. Patricia is survived by her daughters, Tami MacAskill (Michael Treece), Judy Mendoza (Ray), Bonnie Johnson (Simon); granddaughters Nicole Mendoza Eckmann (Jeff), Bianca Johnson; grandson Matthew Mendoza; great granddaughters, Taylor and Madison Eckmann; sister Donna Wozniak (Ted), and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life with her immediate family will be held early next year
