Roy Masaji Daikawa, 80, of Hilo died on Dec. 3 at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired life guard for the County of Hawaii and a member of Big Island Woodturners. Visitation from 4:30–5 p.m. Thursday (December 22, 2022) at the Church of the Holy Cross; a celebration of his life will begin at 5. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Mildred Daikawa of Hilo; children, Neal (Jean Marie) Daikawa of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Royden (Laura Esbensen) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Christine (Catherine Perry) Daikawa of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; siblings, Sadako (Henry) Suzuki of Hilo, Paul (Jane) Daikawa of Hilo, Stanley (Janice) Daikawa of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Carole (Harry) Watanabe of Los Alamos, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
