Violet Isabel (Castello) Ignacio, 97, of Hilo, died December 31, 2022, in Hilo. Born in Papaaloa in 1925 to John and Mary Castello. She graduated from Laupahoehoe High School and worked in the sugar plantation office before marrying Walter Wm. Ignacio in 1947. She loved music and was an organist for Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Papaaloa and Saint James Catholic Church in Ookala. On moving to Hilo, she was active at Kamana Senior Center, and was a member of Na Lima Lele Ukulele group for many years. As part of the group they traveled and brought the Aloha Spirit with them wherever they went. Violet was also a member of Saint Joseph Church Aloha Choir. Visitation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Graveside committal service to follow at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2 pavilion. Casual attire. Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wm. Ignacio; sisters, Mary Evelyn (Joseph) Cabral, Genevieve (Robert) Silva and brother, John Edward (Rosemary) Castello. Violet is survived by son, Lloyd (Paula) Ignacio; daughters, Naomi (Ron) Ringer and ZoeAnne (Larry) Bianchi; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
