William C. Kukahiko
January 1, 2023
William C. Kukahiko of Hilo (born Feb. 8, 1952), passed away at the age of 70, Jan.1, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center. He was a resident at Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home. Born and raised in Keaukaha on Todd and Pua Ave, he was a member of the Job Corps and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Billy as he was known to "mom" was an avid fisherman (especially for opelu & lobster), who also loved pounding opihi, walking miles past King's Landing, by himself. If you needed opihi, he was the go to guy. William was a book of knowledge who was also an expert in weaving "throw" nets. In his youth he enjoyed surfing, cherished his '60 Chevy Impala, and fished and picked coffee in Kona, where he spent his adult years. William is survived by his daughter, Chalet (Moni) Kukahiko-Faour, son, Jesse (Myra) Kukahiko; sisters, Lavaina (Bernardo) Agbigay, Roberta (Wayne) Crocker, Maylen (Rudy) Lopez; brothers, Randy Lowe & Robert (Kaiulani) Kukahiko, all of California; brother Francis Kukahiko of Oahu, and sister Edwina Kukahiko of Hilo. He is also survived by three grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed and may he rest in peace. Our deepest mahalo to Aunty Wanda Cardines and Uncle Pat Cardines for the much appreciated, all around kokua in our initial absence. Private services will be at a later date.
