Mrs. Shigeno “Shirley” Kawamoto, age 91, of Papaikou, Hawaii, died January 7, 2023 at her residence in Papaikou. She was born in Ninole, Hawaii on August 30, 1931 and worked at Edith’s Dress Shop and Smartwear before retiring as a Sales Clerk at JCPenny in Hilo. She was a member of the Papaikou Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Kamana Senior Center and was an avid bowler. Private services held. She is survived by sons, Floyd (Lauren Oie) Kawamoto of Hilo and Earl Kawamoto of Papaikou; daughter, Lois (George Makua) Giraud of Hilo; brother: Harold Oba of San Gabriel, California; sisters, Harriet Huber of Henderson, Nevada, Gladys Lopez of Hilo and Karen (Richard Davis) Oba of San Diego, California; brothers-in-law, Tsutomu Kawamoto of Hilo and Raymond (Diane) Kawamoto of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Helen Oba of Hilo and Lillian Kawamoto of Kaneohe; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; an aunt; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
