Mrs. Doris “Toyan” Toshiko Sugimoto, age 98, of Hilo, Hawaii, died January 22, 2023 in the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hakalau, Hawaii on December 31, 1924 and was employed by the State of Hawaii at Keaau Elementary School. She was a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo on March 12, 2023 (Sunday) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire and wearing of face-masks required. She is survived by children, Arnold (Sandy) Sugimoto of Los Angeles, California, Doreen (Dennis) Taga of Honolulu and Barry Sugimoto of Hilo; brother, Katsumi (Dora) Tsuha of Kaneohe; sister, Nancy Asaeda of Los Angeles, California; sister-in-law, Florence Tsuha of Honolulu and Yoshie Tarumoto of Kaneohe; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
