James “Jimmy” D. Aguiar, 88, of Hilo, died March 2 at Lifecare Center. Born in Paauilo, he was a mail carrier for the Hilo Post Office, worker for A’s Favorite Ceramics, lead singer of “Jimmy & the Boys”, night manager at Kilauea Shell, delivery service worker at Western Auto Store, had a yard service business, played baseball for the Puueo Poi and the Hilo Post Office team, a 1952 Hilo High School graduate, a member of the YMI and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also was a Veteran in the US Army. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Dodo Mortuary. Funeral service at 6 p.m. Visitation 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services with Military Honors at 12 noon (East Hawaii Veterans #2 Pavilion) survived by wife, Agnes E. Aguiar, sons, Darrell Aguiar of Ninole, Keith (Dana) Aguiar of Kurtistown, Kelvin Aguiar of Hilo; son-in-law, Rocky Ishibashi of Hilo, Hawaii; sister Jane Sweeny of California; brother-in- laws, Louis (Candy) Carvalho of Ramona, California and Louis (Kathleen) Azevedo of Pepeekeo; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
