Mr. Satoshi “Sato” Sumiki, age 85, of Hilo, Hawaii, died March 4, 2023 at his residence in Hilo. He was born in Papaikou, Hawaii on August 28, 1937 and worked as a gas attendant at the former Smiley’s Service Station in Hilo before retiring from a career at Isemoto Contracting Company as a Carpenter. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on March 31, 2023 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Casual attire is requested. No flowers. He is survived by wife, Luwana Akim Seu Sumiki of Hilo; son, Shawn (Kim) Sumiki of Hilo; daughters, Deborah (Kunio) Sewell of Hilo and Jodi (Edward R.) Talaro of Hilo; sisters, Rhoda Sumiki of Honolulu and Dale (Dennis) Kunimitsu of Honolulu; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
