Res. 223-23: STRONGLY URGES IMMEDIATE ACTION BY THE HAWAIʻI STATE LEGISLATURE, DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE & CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AND HAWAIʻI PROPERTY INSURANCE ASSOCIATION TO ADDRESS INSURANCE ACCESSIBILITY ON HAWAIʻI ISLAND, PARTICULARLY IN LAVA ZONES 1 AND 2
Seeks to increase Hawaiʻi Property Insurance Association policy premiums and expand coverage to include commercial businesses, implement subsidies or financial assistance programs to mitigate the financial burden for residents in Lava Zones 1 and 2, and explore the creation of a risk pooling mechanism.

BILLS FOR ORDINANCES
Bill 49: INITIATES AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III, SECTION 3-4 OF THE (Draft 2) HAWAI‘I COUNTY CHARTER (2022 EDITION), RELATING TO VACANCY IN OFFICE
Proposes reducing the time allotted for the County Council to appoint a successor to a vacant County Council district seat, establishing restrictions on official candidates being appointed to a vacant County Council district seat, and that a person who has been duly elected to serve the upcoming Council term shall automatically fill a vacancy that occurs for that County Council district seat.
