The Big Island Chocolate Festival will present its second ever dip, sip and paint event, where guests can dip food into a chocolate fountain, sip drinks, all while painting with a group. It will be held Sept. 9 at Island Lava Java in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, according to its event information

There will be two different sessions for this sip and dip paint event, one scheduled for 1-3 p.m. and another planned for 4-6 p.m. Tickets cost $65 and include painting supplies and instructions, unlimited wine or two mocktails, pupus by Lava Java and treats to dip in a chocolate fountain sponsored by the Cocoa Outlet, the event details reported.

Artist Victoria Trujillo will be leading the group in a cacao-inspired work of art. She has been practicing this style of art for more than 20 years. There are specials for groups of two and four people as well, according to the event information. Tickets are limited.

Proceeds will benefit the Kona Cacao Association and help support farmer education and local cacao growth at the 2024 Big Island Chocolate Festival, the event details said. The Big Island Chocolate Festival hopes events like this will allow local cacao growth to become as big as coffee.

The next Big Island Chocolate Festival will be held in April 2024. During the past eight years, they have been able to donate more than $140,000 to local beneficiaries. The Big Island Chocolate Festival is presented by the Kona Cacao Association.

According to its website, the goal of the Kona Cacao Association “is to promote the cacao industry on the Big Island of Hawai‘i by presenting the Big Island Chocolate Festival as an educational and outreach opportunity for local cacao farmers, the hospitality industry and cacao enthusiasts.”

Tickets for the next Big Island Chocolate Festival go on sale in November, the website reported.
